The mobile safety camera operator of MX08 PNZ lies and claims to have permission to obstruct a private entrance. After questioning the land owner of TOP O' TH' HEIGHT FARM the farmer says the police has never contacted the farm to obtain any parking permissions or request any. Police staff is in breech of truth and honesty conduct and behaviour employment policy and also parked illegally.

I've always maintained, if you want to catch dangerous speeders then why not used unmarked police cars? Why not get civilians to film and pay them a fee? Where I live many road rages instantly behave the moment they see police vehicles, then it's back to their normal routine of behaving like assholes on the roads. The last thing they'd expect is for someone to be gathering potential evidence against them. Finally it would sink in that the evidence could be any road, any town.

Yes, it's sad that it has come to this. But it's also sad that we in this country undoubtedly have a sizable minority of complete assholes who drive dangerously and think they can get away with murder, often literally. The police can't be everywhere but the decent, law-abiding citizens often can. I don't see it as Big Brother, or grassing, or snooping on your neighbours. I see as everyone coming together to squish this anti-social bug from our windscreen so that we can all carry on with lives in a much safer, fair and harmonious manner.

His attitude utterly stinks. Evasive, refusing to answer perfectly legitimate questions. Now if the boot was on the other foot, how would a policeman react to answers like that.

He deserves to be struck off or given a severe warning for behaviour like that.

There was a case in Scotland a few years ago where a former police officer grassed up his colleagues who were using a speed camera van without an MOT and there was talk about overturning the speeding fines issued http://www.deadlinenews.co.uk/2013/03/07/investigation-after-claims-police-speed-camera-van-was-on-the-road-without-mot/

Poor man was just trying to do a day's work and gets harassed.

YOU WERE wasting police time and should have been charged as such. It is clear that this was a vehicle owned and operated by the police but clearly not a police vehicle as you were interpreting it.

This proves once again that you simply cannot fix stupid!

I got no problem with catching people dangerously speeding. But like others have said I also do not agree with police vans being occupied by people who aren't police and therefore aren't suitably trained to deal with situations involving the public. You saw in this video, how the person in the van had a difficult time trying to avoid answering questions. If there is a genuine emergency you would rush to that van thinking its the police and lives could be lost in the process.

So "POLICE" written on the front of such vehicles means its "CLEARLY" not a police vehicle? What planet are you on? As mentioned here already, if someone is in need a POLICE vehicle is the first port of call, however this isn't a police man in this vehicle and he has CLEARLY refused to identify himself.

You surely cannot fix stupid...looked in the mirror lately?

Poor man just doing his job ha ha ha just like the Nazi's. He was rude and lied about showing ID. Hardly a shining example of the way public servants should behave.

The dude filming didn't call the police so how could he possibly be charged with wasting police time? The dude what called police should be charged with wasting police time because he knew no laws had been broken but still called police.

We still just about have freedom in this country and the dude filming didn't break any laws at all.

@ 20:38:37 I don't think the OP is saying catching speeders is wrong. What they're saying is we have a vehicle in police livery that many will assume is staffed by police officers whereas in reality they aren't. You ask what the OP would do if someone ran over a loved one..well, what would someone do if they saw a crime and ran to this van? They'd assume help would be immediate and professional; that there would be no need to pick up the phone or ask others to do so. Then they'd realise valuable seconds had been lost speaking to someone who is not an officer..

This is where I am basing my information, the Daily Mail (2014). Probably gonna get crucified for using them as a source lol but I thought it might be interesting..

' "If you are not a police officer, then you should not be impersonating a police officer in a police vehicle": Angry driver films moment he confronts speed camera operator'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2730738/Angry-driver-films-moment-confronted-speed-camera-operator-sitting-police-van-accusing-impersonating-officer.html

"outh Wales Police today answered Mr Pain's claims, saying there is no requirement for camera operators to be police officers.

Chief Inspector Martyn Stone said: 'Mobile speed camera units are staffed by police employed personnel and there is no requirement for camera operators to be police officers.

'The staff employed for this purpose are fully trained in the equipment they use, however they are not accustomed to dealing with confrontational situations."

You see what I mean? The staff are not trained to deal with anything other than operating those cameras (and possibly how to avoid questioning it would seem).

Adrian now I might be wrong on this as I do knot know the full facts, but from what I have read it is apparently OK for police vans to be used by people who work for the police but are not actually police officers. And I have also seen these vans with big letters on the front saying 'POLICE' and the font, colour..it's no different to other police vehicles despite there being not one single copper inside and despite it being operated by civilian staff. This to me is wrong, it misleads the public. Screw people who drive dangerously and speed, this isn't about that least not in my book, this is about pulling the eyes over people who respect and trust in the police force as a whole.

The livery clearly states this is a police vehicle. The reflective blue and yellow Battenberg markings should only be displayed on police vehicles, as specified by the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989, therefore it must be classed as a police vehicle so why is it being driven by a civi?

The cameraman didn't waste police time, the man in the van did by calling them.

The two officers are not exactly going to arrest the operator of the speed van for impersonation are they. Imagine the stick they would get from above. That is not proof that this is legal.

The police and government like to call them safety camera vans because they know how much the public hates speed cameras.

Hmm no MOT. So the police are saying it's not a police van but if it has not got an MOT then it must be classified as a police vehicle. They can't have it both ways.

If the guy was a "lying public servant", why wasn't he arrested for impersonation? The police were genuinely surprised at the question. Perhaps his departure coincided with needing to move to a different site.

You'll notice the lack of MOT details above. Vehicles used for police purposes, provided they are serviced or repaired within an approved workshop, don't require an MOT.

It's also not a "speed camera van", but a "safety camera van".

Finally, there's blue text along the bottom about the Casualty Reduction Partnership.

No one sticks to the speed limit. Everyone speeds and if we didn't speed the streets would be clogged up even more than they are now. Obviously some people take it too far and are a danger to others but speed cameras are not the answer. Their main purpose is to raise revenue. We need more traffic cops out on the beat to catch dangerous drivers.

He is a citizen employed by the police with their authority to use the vehicle and it's equipment

He's there to catch speeders who potentially don't care about road traffic laws and your children or your elderly family/friends who are at a greater risk from speeding vehicles.

Yes it's wrong to entrap like they do but how else are the police supposed to enforce the law?

I know some of you will vote this comment down and vote the regd down but imagine if you will one speeder actually killed your child and then what would you want the law to do?

But also remember this site is called rate-driver - your supposed to vote on the driven vehicle - this vehicle was parked up / stationary
