Dont make excuses for drivers like this. I doubt very much he was pissed at all just an absolute menace to society. Thinks hes the big man right up until the moment it does all actually go wrong for him then he will start to shake with fear knowing the police will soon come to take away his liberty....guys a prick who has a screw loose. Just out for an entitled drive. Luckily all he can afford is your average joe diesel SUV.imagine this twat in some souped up car barging his way around town.......he needs locking up. He would actually ram a cyclist if it was on a lonely country lane no other cars around as he is onecof lifes pussies and will only do stuff the cowards way. My personal view is that it was bad cycling at the start; however that in no way justifies what the driver did.
From the outset it looks like the cyclist is attempting to filter, only, the traffic isn't slow or stationary, so the best course of action would have been to return to primary position. There was plenty of room in front of you so I don't see how returning to primary would have been a bad problem. I'd say the same if it were a motorcyclist even though they will often right towards the right of the lane..riding on the opposite lane, forcing oncoming traffic to stop is a bad idea for the obvious reasons.
Just bad timing. It happens. However the driver in front looks like they wanted to be an asshole about it, so they sped up trying to race the cyclist, making a bad situation ten times worse.
Bad that wasn't enough for the driver, apparently. Over-taking a cyclist (rightfully) taking primary before a pinch-point (pedestrian refuge)..well, what can you say? That can and DOES get cyclists killed. It's very reason cyclists are advised to take primary through pinch-points, because had they took secondary that driver WOULD have sandwiched them between the curb and the refuge.
We then see, despite a clear road ahead, the driver intentionally slowing down right after the pinch-point as if playing games with the cyclist's life. Well driver, you're lucky..you're lucky you don't come across someone who shall we say takes a much sterner view on your attitude behind the wheel. I'd ban you outright if I had the capacity, because what I see here looks wholly intentional and your disregard for human life is self-evident.
Oh but our holy asshole-ness isn't finished yet. As shown they also wanted to play games with the car over-taking them with fast oncoming traffic.
The cyclist's timing was bad in my opinion. But that does NOT justify using your car as a weapon and for that reason I think that the driver of this vehicle is a dangerous person who should not be allowed to drive. Period. Drivers like this are the reason I no longer commute by cycle - and no, I am not saying all drivers are like this, either.
