First there was no punishment pass. The red car passed quite slowly and carefully as far as I can see.
If anything you were the one doing punishment cycling. There are long sections entirely free of cars where it would be common courtesy to let cars flow by moving left a bit without compromising your safety, and plenty of room to move safely back to the right when needed.

The tough bit is ahead where the road narrows dangerously for cyclists in both directions.

How am I qualified to comment? I cycle this same road daily so I know it well.

It seems your head was too busy swivelling to admire the river Cam to concentrate on cycling.
Being entitled to take the lane and all that does not mean it should dislodge all common sense.

Aggressive punishment pass and afters from his passenger, who seemed most put out I was riding a bike on the road.

That "punishment crossing" by the old guy with the walking stick was a bit too close for comfort. Nothing worse than these old gits and their MGIF attitude.

Yup, that punishment pass where you pass dangerously close to the cyclist with the child seat is shocking. I'm surprised she didn't shake her fist and shout "Oi!" then catch up with you at the lights shouting "Too close mate! Too close!"

Have to agree with the below comment'

I'm all for ALL sharing the road but cyclist is nothing more than an inconsiderate road hog. Had he moved over to the left where there was plenty of space traffic behind might not have built up and become frustrated. And don't even go there about giving ample space when overtaking - he managed to use the cycle path at the end to filter - does he not have to consider ample width also.

Bet he drives a BMW

You did have ample opportunity to safely move further to the left. The lady with the child seat demonstrated such further up.
