First there was no punishment pass. The red car passed quite slowly and carefully as far as I can see.
If anything you were the one doing punishment cycling. There are long sections entirely free of cars where it would be common courtesy to let cars flow by moving left a bit without compromising your safety, and plenty of room to move safely back to the right when needed.
The tough bit is ahead where the road narrows dangerously for cyclists in both directions.
How am I qualified to comment? I cycle this same road daily so I know it well.
It seems your head was too busy swivelling to admire the river Cam to concentrate on cycling.
Being entitled to take the lane and all that does not mean it should dislodge all common sense.
