This is the most unusual incident I have had in 30 years of driving.
I noticed a small Volvo behind me this morning on the A14 near Cambridge that approached cars from behind at break neck speeds, brake harshly, swerve as the driver struggled to regain control and tailgate until they got past each car.
I couldn't help but glance at the action in my rear view mirror as this situation was repeated several times over and I was fully expecting a serious accident to unfold.
As I was in the left lane, the Volvo pulled alongside myself whilst in the right lane and was tailgaiting the vehicle in front with only inches between them. I glanced at the driver of the Volvo and had already created several mental profiles of what I expected the driver to look like. However, the driver matched none of these and to my complete surprise it was a 70 year old woman with white hair in a bob cut!
She soon undercut the car in front and disappeared out of view at a speed that was approximately 120mph+.
I have no idea why she was driving in such a manner however I am certain that it can't have been as important as the several lives that she put in danger with driving that would embarrass a boy racer. I can only assume she has an alcohol problem as the constant swerving suggests she is not in full control of the vehicle.
There is no excuse for this type of driving and I would urge anyone that knows this woman to demand that she relinquishes her driving licence immediately as you will be saving someone's life.
