I'm posting this as a potential educational resource.
It's 2016 not 1916 If you want to use the same road as vehicles that contain numerous safety devices which have been developed over decades buy a car, they are safer.

Love it at the end where he rides off illegally along the pavement.
Before the cycle brigade get on their soap boxes I appreciate he has been in an accident but does that give him the right to break the law?
Another example of why cyclists should have insurance if they plan to use the road, if that car gets damaged and the cyclist rides off, who pays??

I to have noticed Paul C " churning out rubbish " and it's very succinct and he should continue for he is our chosen spokesperson .

Paul C (me?) have you forgotten it's ok to post accusing a guy in the video of being an OBESE MESS but please do not criticise the cyclist in anyway. OK. As usual instead of being able to come back with a half sensible response they resort to the standard "your a troll " line and abuse.

Yet another trolling post from Paul. Dude you clearly know very little about the law.. I'll let your brain "stew" over it and come back with some facts rather than spew crap. Oh, and the insurance you pay is based mostly on the THREAT you pose.

p.s. This doesn't appear to be your first foray here, and neither am I the only one noticing the rubbish you're churning out.

So you've for some odd reason decided your the authority on cycling education or more to the point taking a video showing none of the things your advising and typing some ill judge crap .

Either that cyclist came from the pavement or his road positioning was awful to begin with , why would he drop back to the curb after going past the first two parked vehicles when the white van was meters ahead .

Also he's all over the road like someone out of an 80s teen film and makes zero attempt to observe what's going on around him , also if your that dangerous you should maybe consider a helmet and cycle clips for your trousers .

I empathise with your point, Andy. The same happens here time and time again whenever there's a report involving a cyclist.. haterz gonna hate mate. They don't care who's right or wrong, they seek and avenue to exploit for their bigoted views. I think one day this site will be registration-only on account of these people abusing it. I understand there have been complaints made and the admins have taken action but unfortunately as it stands there's still no shortage of hate-filled trolls looking to discriminate against other people. They think they are cool but really they are just pathetic (hence the reason they can't come back with much besides more childish insult/rant/abuse whatever). Just ignore them, they are not worth it.

Eh? Have you read this report properly, I mean really read it and understood it? You're going off on some kind of benign tangent based mostly on your speculative nonsense. In other words, you talk bollocks...

20:18:29 Don't come here to hurl childish hate. Explain yourself and grow up, your choice. Your fire-and-forget hate makes you look quite immature..is it time for your parents to fetch you off the computer for playing up again? Learn how to articulate your views without hate - this is the big wide world, not your little room inside your head..

I'm posting this as a potential educational resource. The reason (better) cyclists go wide of cars is to avoid what is commonly known as the "door zone". It is not done to annoy, delay or in any way inconvenience others; rather it is merely done for safety reasons.

Where you appeared to pass a cyclist was a particularly hazardous spot: the brow of slight incline; a bend; parked cars to the left sticking out. The risk there is significant which is why it is imperative that cyclists should, as advised, stay visible.

As you went past it seemed apparent a front-seat passenger didn't like my positioning. If you were yelling at me I would like to remind you of these hazards. I would also like to remind you that shouting/screaming at someone can also create a hazard in itself.. the cyclist can easily become unbalanced.
You need to give them space. It's that simple.. at least as much space as a car. And they are fully entitled to move out in order to avoid the door zone. If you felt they cut the the driver up then you are wrong; it is the driver's responsibility over-take safely and the driver was given ample notice (hand signal well in advance). Here are two video's from another area of the country showing what can happen when you do not give adequate space.

Far better to stay behind and only over-take where it is both safe and practical.. where you passed, there is a crossing immediately ahead and there is are also multiple junctions, and a roundabout. In other words, your window of opportunity is severely limited. It's not nice to shout at people just trying to stay safe and visible, if shouting was your intention. Hope this helps.

Nobody is posting in the first person - I clearly and openly stated it is not me in the clip.

I also posted the reasons for the clip being included.

Seems the only "agenda" you see here is your own delusional spin.

Sorry but cyclist is a contender for the Darwin Awards. No matter what faults there were with the driver, cyclist is lucky to be alive, be it this vehicle or any other that happened to pass as he launched himself into traffic.
