Just looked at the picture more closely. BP65YAE is showing as a Black KIA. I think the actual number plate is BP66VAE. This car is insured, taxed and MOTed. Still needs reporting particularly with him having a trailer in tow.

What is the close pass cycling initiative?
We became the first force in the country to proactively target "close pass" drivers who endanger riders.

Rules of the road say motorists should give cyclists at least the same space as vehicles when overtaking.

Anyone encroaching inside that safe passing distance - widely considered to be a minimum of 1.5 metres - runs the risk of being prosecuted for driving without due care and attention.

Officers saddle up on some of the region’s busiest routes looking out for motorists who put cyclists at risk. They will radio the details of close-pass drivers for in-car colleagues to stop drivers.

Drivers will be offered a road-side educational input on safe overtaking but repeat offenders, or anyone deemed to have driven dangerously close to a cyclist, can expect to be prosecuted and taken to court.

How can I report close pass drivers?
We can now take online reports of close pass drivers, as well as dangerous driving, as well as careless driving and using a mobile phone while driving.

In order for action to be taken, you will need to:

Know the alleged offending vehicle’s number plate.
Be able to upload video footage, for example dash cam/cycle cam footage.
Have independent witnesses or evidence of the alleged offence.
Be willing to attend court and give evidence.
If you are happy with all of the above and wish to proceed, visit our online reporting portal.

Please note, the above link is for reporting incidents that have occurred within the West Midlands area. If you wish to report an incident that occurred outside the West Midlands, follow this link.

If you do not have video evidence, but you do have other supporting evidence, such as an independent witness, the vehicle’s number plate and you are willing to attend court, please download this form, complete it and email it back to us.

Please note, we cannot take any reports without independent evidence.

In addition, before you make a report, please be aware that:

You are making an official report to the police.
You may be required to provide further information or attend court in order to support the case for the prosecution.
Your own actions and driving standards will be reviewed as part of the report.
We cannot accept reports of any other motoring offences, such as parking on yellow lines or zig zags. To find out more about these issues please use our website’s search bar which can be accessed at the top of this page or via the homepage.

You're wasting your time here..

'Rules of the road say motorists should give cyclists at least the same space as vehicles when overtaking. '

It says 'SHOULD' - not 'MUST'. This is nothing more than a PR stunt to try and rally support for a force that is being stripped left, right and center (including closing stations in crime hot-spots and wondering why crime explodes). There widespread criticism of the way the force is run and the way much-needed resources are being thrown at 'policing the Internet'.

Meanwhile, most complaints about careless, reckless or dangerous driving especially around cyclists aren't taken seriously and this has been going on for years. Practically anything goes and the police will not even respond.

There. There's your God-damn reality and your God-damn reason why cycling in this country is often seen as a joke: the provision, the law and the attitudes of people who treat cyclists - who fund roads the same as everyone else (even though they cause practically no damage) are being treat cyclists like DIRT. The UK is a joke.

The law has changing and Drivers will start getting penalty points and a fine for close passes. Previously they just got a letter or a talking to.

Needless overtake, caused black car on opposite side of the road to take evasive action. You have a trailer - slow down!
Turned into Sutton New Hall cemetery a short distance ahead - saved all of about 10 seconds!!! I don't want to end up in the cemetery pal - please slow down!!!
