No sympathy. You were in the middle of the road throughout the whole video which you would only do to provoke a reaction. Other cyclists passed you nearer the kerb. And with all those bloody cameras dangling from you and your bike you need a confrontation or your footage would be as dull as your life.
Don't worry Sid it's the same old boring response you get on here if you dare to suggest that the cyclist contributed to the incident. They like to play the victim.
"You were in the middle of the road throughout the whole video which you would only do to provoke a reaction"
- Your obvious lack of perception, road skills and law is quite telling.
"Other cyclists passed you nearer the kerb."
- As above. Riding in the gutter isn't mandatory. The same could be said if another car is over the limit - does that mean you should, just because you're also on 4 wheels? Think about it.
"And with all those bloody cameras dangling from you and your bike you need a confrontation or your footage would be as dull as your life."
- Speculative nonsense (like the rest of your garbage).
"pick on" lol. And how is he giving you a bad name? How are you the same? How? Does one driver represent another? Of course not. I think you need to watch the video carefully, the car is the bigger threat here; especially that stupid, dangerous passing. You take primary position to deter pricks like that.
Quote Rab: "Now lose the self importance, grow up ......... and get a car. :) "
Looks like Rab's stuck for words, hence resorts to abuse. You can't debate the issue so you instead make petty, childish remarks. Oh, and a huge swathe of cyclists ALSO own cars. But that argument you're trying to make, it's god absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with this video; more so, it's proof of your personal insecurity. Your attempt to derail this report has failed you and basically your only recourse is to drop the attitude grow up and talk sense. Your sense of self worth is the antics of a child.
me2u2me, you take primary for several reasns; one being to deter idiotic passing (such as that shown here). Whether you consider that to be "controlling the flow of traffic" is completely irrelevant.
In most instances Sonofthewinds (or whatever his tag is) has been proven to identify bad driving and again in this instance there was a few points the driver needs to look at (too close. attempting to overtake when unsafe) but there are other cyclists who pass him near the kerb.
@ Sonofthewind You don't own the road and neither does the Merc driver
as a cyclist you should take up primary at certain points (narrowing lane, parked vehicles etc) not to control the flow of traffic
"Likewise you could also have to *veer left to avoid pot-holes, debris or pedestrians..you have almost no room to escape. Just stay back and wait as required."
03:54 Ref the other cyclist carrying shopping. That's really never a good idea, to under-take vehicles turning left. You're in their blind spot and they could veer left without warning, at any time. Likewise you could also have to veer left to avoid pot-holes, debris or pedestrians..you have almost no room to escape. Just stay back and wait as required.
The guy is also dangling a shopping bag from the frame.. again, bad idea. One tangle and you're coming off. The shopping needs to be secured better, even stuffing it inside your shirt and coat is a better idea than letting it dangle about. I will never understand why (some) people are so willing to put their life at risk for the sake of a 5p bag..a helmet can only protect you so much.
Funny how the vast majority of other drivers seem to handle the situation much better than CA62 ASX, i.e. staying back, giving room, not trying over-take dangerously, not tail-gating the moment a cyclists pulls ahead. Seems it's looking harder and harder for Rab to justify their argument..
That driver made this situation worse, not the cyclist. The driver wouldn't stop trying to get past and as we saw several times that meant at the expense of the safety of the cyclist and other road users. Yet another driver who refuses to abide by the Highway Code and treat cyclists are equal road users.
Rab, you are one entitled idiot. Cyclists have the right to ride central; the same rights as cars. Do you understand that? "Making it difficult to pass".. my God, are you THAT stupid? The driver shouldn't be passing - it's NOT mandatory, either. If you cannot understand the reasons why they shouldn't be passing then you shouldn't drive. Period. You also make a lot of generalisations in your comments which might just lead many here to conclude you're just here to cause trouble wherever and whenever you get the opportunity. Stop and think that perhaps this is not everyone against you, but the other way round..
Heavy traffic or not the driver was too close and several times attempted over-taking when it wasn't safe. ALL of that could have been avoided by treated cyclists as equals..clearly, that's too hard for both the driver and you to comprehend..
Have you stopped to think that cycling down the centre of the lane when there is no need to might have contributed to this?
Fair enough you are 'entitled' to but when there's heavy traffic all you are doing is making it more difficult for anyone to pass.
If you want other vehicles to have consideration for you you need to also have consideration for them.
This applies to ALL road users.
Over to the anti Rab / troll / cyclist brigade ...... :)
