In these situations I always try to stay either in front of or behind vehicles. Anything else.. don't move until a) the vehicle has moved or fully acknowledged your presence, b) called you on, and c) It is actually safe to proceed. When I do this I get hassle from other cyclist who think it's OK to ride alongside cars, including being in the driver's blind spot. Well to that I say to myself, "fuck off". The way I see it we are here to help each other out, and everyone will at some time make a mistake. With this particular video I can't decide whether or not it was accidental..I'm leaning towards deliberate on the basis the driver would have at least been able to see the cyclist in their mirror. But therein lies the problem for many of you see: I'm making an assumption. Never fully assume people actually know what they are doing..always be prepared to take evasive action. This is just my opinion and I am not trying to lecture others. Have a good day folks.

Footnote: If you stuck in a HGV's blind spot or a car you think can't see, then be prepared to immediately dismount and jump on the pavement. There has been no end of cyclists who have been caught out this way and unfortunately lost their lives. Don't be worried about looking stupid or delaying others - your life is what matters.
