I have witnessed many taxis being driven through red lights - mostly at junctions where there is a side road and it is the only one on green with no traffic coming out. Taxi drivers know the sequence of the lights at mani junctions and will use this knowledge and craftiness to jump red lights - especially if there is nothing behind them to witness them doing it as motorists waiting at the lights from other directions may not be aware the lights are on red.
One junction I know the sequence of lights and have seen numerous taxis jumping red lights is at Windy Harbour at the junction of the A585/A586 between Blackpool and Garstang. It often happens when the lights are green at Windy Harbour entrance and no traffic is coming out.
Whiteside and Poulton Cabs I have witnessed doing this but others (including non-taxis) probably do it too if they think they can get away with it.
