Jeff,
After the junction, it's effectively one narrow lane up to the pelican crossing. Where is the cyclist suppose to ride? Inches from the parked cars so drivers can squeeze past?

I agree. Riding against doors is how people die..it's how my relative died a few years ago. Someone opened a door without warning and that was it. A husband, father and good man gone.

The way I deal with this situation is to simply ask myself, if that cyclist was a car, then what would I do? In 99% of the cases the answer is simply 'stay back' on account of my requirement to give them the same space I would a car and pay particular attention to the fact they are vulnerable road users.

I ride a bike, motorbike and drive and try to see it from all points of view. I have zero tolerance for dangerous, selfish drivers as much as I do for pricks on bikes thinking they can do whatever they like and the rules don't apply to them. What I see in this video is a driver with a bad attitude and a cyclist who's positioning was fine however I don't agree with their name-calling as this could work against them in so far as reporting the driver.

@2017-07-06 12:05:18. I don't think you're a cyclist; least not a competent one. I think you're lying.

The cyclist wasn't causing an obstruction. If the road narrows then it's the responsibility of the driver not to hit the cyclist - it is NOT the responsibility of the cyclist to avoid getting hit by the driver.

Any competent driver would know about doors zones and passing distance. They would also know that the ASL is there so that cyclists can enter then in order to stay visible. It's got nothing at all to do with causing an obstruction and everything to do with correct positioning.

courtesy costs nothing.
If you know the road narrows leading up to the cycle path, and you are a significantly slower vehicle - why not adhere to the highway code and NOT cause an obstruction?
You went to the front of the queue when you need not have done. If you had stayed behind the queue of cars you would have not only kept yourself out of a dangerous situation but you would have got where you are going in just as much time.

we, as cyclists, are entitled to use the road, but please - be courteous to everyone else that you inconvenience with your arrogant, entitled behaviour and stp[ giving us all a bad name with your vindictive video posting.
