Looks like the cyclist wobbles into the car. The car was very close but it doesn't look like the cyclist checked to see is it was clear before starting to move over. Unfortunate accident but not really sure about fault blaming.

Even the driver of the camera car says " are they on one bike or is he really close to his arse". I know you're a bit touchy but the cyclist wasn't really cycling very well and put himself in danger. Yes the car driver should have left more space but it could have been avoided. Stop getting so angry with me, I cycle very well and my eyes are fine. You may not be right every time.

Simon I do not see how the cyclist made and error and got hit. The car was clearly too close from the start, and proceeded to be too close throughout. The responsibility here lies with the driver. You're basically saying it was the cyclist's fault for being on the road and not having eyes in the back of their head, or not turning round in heavy traffic. Crazy.

Thanks for the picture and detailed information, you are a star. I still think if the truth be told, the cyclist made an error and got hit. I do also cycle but I'm very aware of my surroundings and would have checked behind at the junction to see what was approaching from behind therefor spotting the close driver. Could have been avoided by both parties.

The facts of the matter are that the cyclist was in front of the driver, who drove past them far too close and knocked them flying. If you can't deal with a cyclist slightly deviating in the road - for whatever reason - then you are the problem, not the cyclist. There are plenty of video's showing the correct way to overt-take cyclists and some police forces are now starting to clamp down on those who put cyclists' lives at risk through such stupid and dangerous driving.

The cyclist didn't move over. The car was too close, both before and during the moment the car ran into them. The responsibility is on the driver to over-take safely.

And yes, cyclists wobble, for any number of reasons including dirt and debris, oil, pot-holes and drain covers as well as the cyclist panicking if someone is trying to literally climb up their arse in several tons of steel. Hence the reason why the Highway Code specifically says give them plenty of room: at least as much as a car's width or 1m if less than 20 mph, 1.5m if higher.

As shown the car over-took way too close and this is illegal. Also note. cyclists have the same rights as cars and can use the full lane. If you're not really sure about where the fault lies here then I'd suggest you don't drive. Lucky the cyclist didn't end up under the wheels. Again, the responsibility here was on the driver and the driver failed in that respect.

Hits cyclist by driving too close, then "emerged from her car after about five minutes". So not rushing out to check the guys ok?

Driver was too close to overtak and should have been more patient with the cyclist at least up until the point where you can see road works ahead and that the inside lane becomes closed off and thats why the driver became impatient as to getting ahead of the cyclist to make sure he got ahead resulting in him hitting the cyclist as by the way has done nothing wrong as he has every right to be where he is at that moment in time, The car driver needs to take an awareness course after this incident, Most of all i hope the cyclist is alright and with hopefully no long lasting injuries, Thanks to Caters Clips of youtube for the original video without people like him we would never be aware of this accident, Safe driving and cycling people

Another reason to ride primary, as advised by all respected cycle craft authorities as well as the government's own advice. Riding primary doesn't guarantee you won't be hit, but it does lessen the likelyhood and if it's wrong for cyclists to be in the centre of THEIR lane, then it's wrong for cars, too. Unfortunately too many drivers in this country don't know shit about how to drive and don't give a shit about cyclist's welfare..

Big thanks and respect to the driver of dashcam car for
1 Having dashcam
2 Assisting the cyclist after the RTA

Hope the cyclist got off lightly but hope the car drivers insurance premium doubles and that the police (as a minimum) give the driver a warning about her unsafe road sense.
