A big part of the problem here is not only urban planning, but also the government's refusal to address population increase. Specifically, where that population increase is coming from. Pakistan, for example. Its billion population doubled in decades to 1.2 billion, and it projected to hit 1.7 billion or even far higher by around 2050. To ignore the problems this has been shown to create for the world -including the western world - is ludicrous, and will only make situation likes this (and more) worse.
I know Pakistani people. I have good relationships with them. I don't hate them on a personal level. But I also believe in being realistic. We need to know where the source of our problems are coming from, and why. And no I am not saying we are perfect, either. Nobody is.
