I hate people using their mobile phones behind the wheel and this driver was guilty of an offence because he had his phone in his hand (if it was in a cradle and he was fiddling with it, in the eyes of the law, that is legal). Having said that, this driver was polite and apologetic. He was at least stationary, kept the zebra crossing clear (which is rare these days), was immediately aware of the cyclist's presence and attempted to manoeuvre his van to the side when he thought the cyclist couldn't get through. Because be was being considerate, I think it's unfair that this video was uploaded. I feel a bad for him because he could now potentially lose his job, which would more than likely result in him being replaced by a typical white van man who has no manners or consideration for others and drives like a lunatic. So in a strange way, this cyclist may have just made the roads that little bit more dangerous.
Yes I agree but what reason would the cyclist have if everyone followed the law
Just imagine that one day your child is saved because some responsible person told an irresponsible driver that they would be a star on youtube for using a mobile whilst driving and this action had a positive effect on said driver
If all drivers (and cyclists) followed the laws etc would we need cameras?
Scares the life out if me my arse. Crossing clear. Traffic not moving. Warning\caution valid. But losing a job for that? No. Hitler in Lycra with a flashing light on his head for extra twat points.
