Was in my car following this driver, who as in turn behind a cyclist. Despite stationary traffic ahead the driver decided to over-take the cyclist, cutting up. The cyclist had to slam on their brakes only there was nowhere to go as the van was right up against a parked car.

Maybe it was not intentional, but you shouldn't be over-taking people like that. Cyclists need as much space as a car and there wasn't sufficient over-taking distance. All it did was create needless risk.

Riding primary may help limit this kind of anti-social driving. Unfortunately a lot of (idiot) drivers in this country still think cyclists should a) ride in the gutter at all times, and b) be over-taken at every opportunity, regardless of safety or practicability. It's basically not reading the road and blaming other people (cyclists) for it. However in some areas the police are starting to clamp down, so hopefully things will improve and idiot drivers will treat cyclists as equals as required by law.
