Seems a lot of times on here and elsewhere whenever a cyclist has a complaint all it descends into is mostly anti-cyclist rant.
Some try and justify this by claiming to know what all cyclists are like; they attitudes, actions. This is just benign arrogance, and when taken to the roads it puts people at risk of serious injury or death. Cyclists are equal road users. Of course, there are bad cyclists just as there are bad drivers - but instead of treating each case on its own merit each thread gets turned into a shit-storm from idiot trolls loitering around itching to preach ant-cyclist rant.
Your discriminatory hatred isn't helping anyone. Share the damn road like you are supposed to.
NOT the cyclist in this incident, but just a timely reminder if you like, to all those who think think they can use their vehicles as weapons or that they are impervious to the law..
Consider this the next time you choose to be a selfish, dangerous, aggressive cunt on the roads (including perhaps the driver in this video). To everyone else this doesn't apply because most people aren't cunts.
0:04 Poor over-take. Far too close, on the apex of a bend, with oncoming traffic.
0:12 Poor over-take. Too close, approaching a roundabout.
0:15 Poor cycling. You're approaching a roundabout, riding in blind spots. The car in front should be checking their mirrors for other road users filtering either side; however this is no guarantee they will have seen you. Further, the car in front could have gone in any direction. Far better to simply take primary and stay behind the car in front at a suitable distance - it makes you far more visible and may help deter dangerous over-taking.
0:28 Perfectly fine. Over-took the other cyclist riding secondary, giving plenty of room.
0:31 Reckless and dangerous over-take between pinch points.
To the person on the bike. Try to stay in primary where appropriate. Between these roundabouts would have fit such criteria. Get a horn. You cannot change the way some people act on the road, but you can control the way you react to it. You have to try to stay in control and make people aware of your presence at all times.
Where possible, report what you consider dangerous or reckless driving them to the local police - some forces are taking the appropriate action against a minority of drivers like the one's shown in the form of an online reporting system where you can submit footage. Hopefully more will get the message and they will think twice - people can and do die because of drivers like this, who should consider a fine far more preferable to taking someone's life because they're too pig-headed to share the road AS REQUIRED.
It's very easy to lose your cool - and lose your control. Don't come down to the level of an idiot. Your life is far too important.
The cyclist wasn't in the middle of the road; they were in the middle of the lane, which is their right.
And even if he was in the middle of the road, in the right circumstances I would re-iterate: it's their right.
All you have to do is remember a simple rule: Cyclists are traffic - they are equal road users. However IF you still feel that riding lawfully is "asking for it" AND you drive a vehicle? Then I would suggest you re-take your driving test.
But don't just take my word for it. Ask any traffic officer of driving instructor whether they think you are right and come back here with the answer, if you like. You might not like their response. Travel safely.
@James whatβs that rule about not being too close behind to the extent that youβre not able to stop
I always forget cyclists only care about laws that work in their favour
Drives around like a complete retard
