I wouldn't wait - let the scum get charged and convicted. He knew he was in the wrong when he checked twice never mind when he drove off.

I hope you get you bike fully restored at no loss (including insurance premium) and this scum bag gets a short ban, a good fine (not the pissy £60 type) and to take an extended driving test

No excuses he's scum and needs to be treated like that. How would he feel if someone did that to his property?
