They can only give you a bad name if you choose to bear association. When I ride a push-bike I get abuse a lot of the time and my reproach is simply to ignore them or report them to the police. Idiot cyclists don't represent me; I don't know them..I don't agree or disagree with them as much as I don't agree or disagree with another driver when I'm in my car. By bearing association you are unwittingly allowing yourself to be judged by their standards. They are nothing to do with you mate and you shouldn't take the blame on their behalf. Take care :)

This stupid prick overtook me when I was doing the speed limit, or 1-2mph over. Left it late, and made me have to brake for them to be able to pull in and avoid hitting the oncoming traffic. Very dangerous rider. I have been riding for nearly 25 years, and its knobs like this which give us bad names. Reported to the local police aswell, along with my dashcam footage, which shows GPS calibrated speed as well. Hope he gets his comeuppance.
