Looked intentional. The cyclist was already way over to the left yet still the car raced towards them. Was the driver on drink..drugs?? Hope the prick got reported to the police because driving like that they are surely going to kill someone. If someone knows who it is then I think they should do the right thing and call it in.

SynbiosSwordsman thanks very much for that information. Hopefully it will send out a message that it's not a game, that people's lives are being put at risk and that there ARE consequences for one's actions. Unfortunately, my hopes are dashed because I feel there are still too many people out there who basically don't give a shit for cyclists' welfare or for the law.

In my spare time I also cycle. I've had liquids sprayed at me and my young brother's eyes, been assaulted and very recently someone thought it would be cool to throw an unknown substance over me whilst I was cycling at 20+ mph. I almost came off and hit a car and my arm was badly bruised from the blunt force of the container. In all these cases I was doing nothing wrong, just minding my own business. And no doubt many drivers will attest to the following: when you get off a bike and step inside a car it's just as bad; the only difference is you're in a cage that affords more protection. The sheer number of abusive people on our roads is deplorable and the only means by which I personally feel we can change this for the better is to start with the next generation. Teach them while they're young that actions WILL have consequence.

At present, if you are driven at or assaulted on a push-bike you have very little leeway where the law is concerned because at the end of the day, the law is still an complete ass and the story you kindly presented is the exception rather than the norm. Hell, even the police themselves are poorly educated on the matter and instructed to turn a blind eye due to political reasons. It is for sure no wonder why so many people decide to take the law into their own hands, rightly or wrongly, it will happen. I do not feel very safe cycling about where I live any more, and I think that is real shame as more people are put off the worse the congestion and isolation will be. Thanks again for posting the link.

There's a legal precedent for jail time and a driving ban:
