What a total prick. Hopefully you can get your car repaired fairly easily. I guess you are lucky the damage is minimal. If the police stall or delay the investigation then contact them again and again until they charge the driver for careless/leaving the scene. If the Mercedes driver hasn't reported the accident to the police within 24 hours then he is liable to prosecution. His only defence in court would be that he wasn't aware he'd hit you but hitting another car and not realising means you were driving carelessly (points and a fine). I know someone who had his car smashed into and even with video evidence the police didn't prosecute. That's why it is vital you don't let it drop and if the police stall, contact them again. This guy yesterday (28/10/17) in Manchester after the Man Utd vs Spurs game, hit the back of my car as he was (Mercedes ML - his car) trying to go into a side road which he obviously didn’t have enough space to do so. The bastard damaged my car and then drove off down the side road without stopping for details. Luckily the car behind is a witness and we’ve reported the ML driver to the police so fingers crossed they sort this out and convict him for leaving a crime scene without stopping. I’ve attached a photo of the damage he did to my car.
