It's about time the police gave out a positive message that all recorded incidents of careless or dangerous drivers will be fined or prosecuted. There is no excuse. All the authorities want to cut road deaths and reduce accidents but nobody wants to take action when there's evidence.

I also cycle sometimes and try to do everything right, which never happens. But I try my best. I see no end of PRICKS on bikes however (not all cyclists) who, like the other minority of pricks in cars, think they can do what they like. There is no deterrent where I live. None at all. You remonstrate and you get abuse and/or violence, and I am sick of living here taking this shit day in day out. I'm not talking about honest mistakes, I'm talking about people who are just ass-holes on the road, people who shouldn't be allowed on the road. But they are. Like I said, what can the cops do? They don't want to do anything. They talk about deterring crime when they're shutting stations and forcing already over-stretched sectors to police a wider area. Not only that, you're lucky if you even see a real copper, as all they'll do is send a couple of PCSO's round when things get too bad to try and re-assure everyone all is rosy in the garden. Deep down I think they know only too well, the reason a lot of this shit happens is because they allow it to happen. The law in this country is so heavily weighted against the victim it's unreal, hence, the rise of vigilantism and other forms of public justice. The system lets people down.

The problem is Mike, the police don't care unless there's a collision. So someone can drive a killing machine and be within an inch of your life and nothing happens. I've seen it done no end of times.. reported bad drivers and the police don't want to know. That sends out a clear message: almost anything goes. 1713 people unfortunately lost their life but the number of idiots risking people's lives far exceeds that. Every single day I see it.. if I did have footage I would not have the space to keep recording it. I am also interested to know what will happen in future as more and more people are having to use cams to protect themselves from idiots - shaming them on yt etc seems to be the only recourse. Of course, there are those who seek confrontation, but the clarity of cameras these days means they're fairly easy to weed out. I think that at the end of the day all the police and court system are interested in is one thing: if they don't see crime, it never happened, hence crime is down..

Believe it or not in 2013 only 1713 people died on the uk roads, the lowest number since records began in 1926, pretty good figures considering there are 35 million vehicles on the road.

I wonder if the law will change to allow easier prosecution of drivers based on video evidence following the explosion in the use of dashcams and helmet cams?
