Ref the mini-roundabout incident. That to me looked mostly a case of driver error: they should not be over-taking there (or anywhere, if both safety and practicality check-boxes aren't ticked). Really bad driving and with very bad consequences had collision occurred.
To make matters worse, the driver then pulls alongside and for whatever reason attempts to remonstrate with the cyclist through ANOTHER pinch-point..again, extremely dangerous.
At no point whatsoever did I see the cyclist cut in front of the van, ride "over" the mini-roundabout, or ride in the middle of the road (the latter of which is legal in certain situations). That's just bogus. Even if they were in the middle of the road going straight over, that still wouldn't be any justification for what the driver did; if anything it should make them doubly careful to keep their distance. As shown, that didn't happen..nobody cut the van driver up, it was the van trying to over-take where he shouldn't.
I think the driver's attempted justification for such crap driving - the "keep to left" fallacy - suggests he has a distinct lack of knowledge regarding not only the cyclist's rights but also HIS responsibilities. Quite frankly I find his apparent sense of entitlement startling..

Firstly, dooring is a regular problem.. everyone is prone to mistakes (including me whether on 2 wheels or 4), mistakes that are made that much worse by the notoriously-bad design of our infrastructure. So please view that in isolation rather single someone out.
Secondly, there was a cyclist in front (who wasn't doored). Perhaps the driver was focussed on them and didn't see you behind.
Then as you pass the door opens but is swiftly retracted.. me personally, I'd have forgotten about it by that point. As long as it's not intentional a quick "nearly mate" or "close one" would have sufficed, however we are all different. I think saying "check next" time might come across as being somewhat pedantic. Whether people are right or wrong, talking "down" to them almost certainly only results in one form of dialogue, a dialogue based on male ego. I would have put it down to an everyday hazard and carried on. Good that no harm came to you..enjoy your ride :)
