Police won't get involved until there's a victim. Key the car and he will be told not to continue parking in such a manner that would cause his car to be "accidentally" damaged.

His choice if he wants to continue to pay finance on a car he can't afford instead of getting a house with a drive way...

The police won't do anything as they barely have time for serious crimes.

It would likely be a civil matter if you have strong enough evidence to identify the individual. However they could easily claim they were simply trying to get passed the car and accidentally caught it with their pushchair / wheelchair / etc and the case would be thrown out as the car shouldn't be on the pavement in the first place.

The police will get involved once its been keyed, but it will be the one who keys it that will be getting charged.

Are you aware that it is perfectly legal to smash the window and release the handbrake of a vehicle that is blocking access ….

2018-11-21 10:38:06: suggest you check again as it's perfectly legal to move a vehicle that is blocking access as the other user mentioned as long as it's relocated to a safe place and the damage can be justified.

Yes it is my friend, that's why I genuinely cannot find any article that states you can use a reasonable measure to move someones vehicle. Feel free to find something that states otherwise.

Even if someone parks directly over your driveway you are not allowed to vandalize the car to move it. Only the emergency services have the powers you mention.

Love to hear more? Google is your friend!

Vehicles blocking access can be moved by law as long as it is by reasonable measure, i.e. smash window, release handbrake and move vehicle to a safe place.

I'd love to hear more about this law that lets you vandalize peoples property if its in your way. I think you will find that its a load of bollocks.

Are you aware you're a fool for spreading information like that

An EPB doesn't have a manual switch, otherwise it wouldn't be electric. Most, if not all, EPBs require ignition to be used.

yeah I'd still be interesting to see if you could get the electric handbrake off, I guess you couldn't even if you hit it with a hammer -worth a try though.

EPB can be released with engine on or off hence the manual switch.

I'm sure it is... I'd love to see the reactions of people when you break into a car and try to move it.... I'm pretty sure you wouldn't even know how to release the handbrake in a Mercedes

Brick through window should sort that out.

Just don't stand too close, because it might bounce off and clonk you on the noggin.

If my kids, other people going to school and the local PCSO (who does nothing) weren't about the brick would be a viable option to reporting it to Northants Police daily.
I've even seen the 'copper in disguise' squeeze past it to continue his duties.

you wouldn't be able to get a pram past it without the risk of the car ending up scratched. That's a risk a parent would have to take though, too risky to walk in a road these days.

Squeeze past with keys hanging out of your pockets wearing a studded jacket and jeans. If the car gets scratched its ghe drivers fault for obstructing a public footpath.
