Seen this a lot with cycle lanes especially with situations similar to this where the road bends or narrows. You cannot drop your concentration for a second and the solid white line doesn't automatically mean you're be safe from being hit. You also get cars turning across lanes and cyclist who want to filter past you at faster speeds without warning.
