Wow that was bad driving. He is clearly going slower than traffic undertaking. The motorcyclist had no where to go, if you look at the positioning of the car it was on the central white line. Agreed that it could have easily been a serious crash with traffic on the other side of the road. I personally hate dual-carriageway crossings.

Of course traffic is under taking, the driver is slowing down to make a u-turn, this is exactly what would happen if this was a cross road and the driver was making a right turn, which I assume you would not object to. The motor cycle has nowhere to go because he is tailgating the VW.

Are you blind???
Clearly it was not safe to do a U-Turn here. For one he didn't have the visibility to safely perform the manoeuvre for traffic on the other side of the carriage way. Using the excuse that the driver didn't know where he was going is shameful. That is how people get killed.

I don't agree with your comment that the driver did not have the visibility to make the manoeuvre, but even if you are correct the driver would not know that until he was practically on the junction. The lack of visibility is not the drivers fault but the fault of the highways agency to either not prohibit u-turns or to design a junction with poor visibility. There is another road joining to the left, I don't see any signs prohibiting right turns from this road which suggests visability is at least adequate.

I couldn't see any "No U Turn" signs on the approach to the junction. The road markings are advisory as arrows only (does not say "AHEAD ONLY), the vehicle indicated in good time, what exactly is the problem?

Namgi,
is a u-turn allowed here or not? There is no prohibition sign and yes, the arrow painted on the tarmac is advisory unless the words "AHEAD ONLY" are also painted on the road. I am not a Troll, I am making valid observations. Why would you want to rip out the advisory rules, they are there to help us all drive safely, especially the ones about maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, probably the most important in terms of avoiding accidents and probably the most abused.

Oh, here we go again with your road markings only being advisory crap. I know, lets rip all the pages out of the highway code that are advisory and only publish the few remaining pages that are legally binding because, after all, they are pointless. TROLL.

OK,
I’m going to answer my own question; at the roundabout the VW selects their exit lane a bit late, not the best bit of driving but certainly nothing to get upset about, the driver is probably un-familiar with the area. The motorcycle drives far too close to the VW and unsurprisingly has to brake when the VW slows to turn, the motorcycle needlessly and aggressively revs the bike as he passes the VW, then speeds off in excess of the 50mph speed limit having a bit of a temper tantrum. My advice to the motor cyclist is to calm down, accept not everyone is going to be a perfect driver all the time and make allowances for that in your driving style.

Car makes perfectly legal U-turn, tailgating motorcycle has to brake, case closed.
