This car nearly ran me over today I was walking at a zebra crossing the car in the other lane stopped so I crossed and he came speeding past me If I crossed about 5 seconds earlier I would of got ran over

Zebra crossings are a nightmare. Unless you are actually on the crossing then both cars don't have to stop even if the other car has. Yet despite this you will fail a driving test if you don't stop while someone is waiting. It's just bloody stupid. I've had the same happen to me loads of times mate, all they do is claim they had someone behind them blah blah when it's clear they have NO intention of stopping, for anyone.
OK here's what to do. At least one car will usually stop, but when it does, just put one foot on the zebra. Then, by law, the other driver MUST stop. If they don't, they are braking the law but at least it's only your foot that's on the crossing and not your whole person. Hope this helps.
