Thank you. I am prepared for the fact that they may not have the manpower to police this, but if they decline to, I may still get closer to understanding the 'threshold of evidence' needed.
The evidence aside, I would like to be able to report this driver for dangerous driving and am keen to find out more about the process of doing so.

They might have more time to deal with the real criminals if the dangerous/irresponsible drivers weren't causing unnecessary multi-car pileups which will take months of policework to unravel ^^
I would have thought that the low-hanging fruit of good evidence might make some 'quick wins' appealing. Will feed back the outcome

Driver tailgated me while I was overtaking on a dual carriageway (I was driving at the speed limit with my car on cruise control). After overtaking me, the driver then completely ignored a 50mph speed limit (didn't slow at all), before driving straight through a red light which there would have been time to stop for (had they not been speeding!). Have reported to the cops, and provided my dascham footage, showing the very first moment the light changed to red, with the car clearly before the junction ;)

But will the police take any action? I doubt it they will use 2 excuses
1 - they didn't catch them so that there is no official evidence
2 - If we acted upon every dashcam recording of dangerous/irresponsible drivers we wouldn't be able to catch real criminals
(you know the ones that they caught 2 months ago and were sent to court and had their wrists slapped and released only to repeat offend for the 27th time (we have to keep our crime figures/prosecutions up).
I'd love our justice system to actually punish criminals and protect our human rights rather than the human rights of the scum that don't want to tow the line but I'm only human and we can't all have everything fixed.
