Yanking the handbrake? and staring blankly at an oncoming coach he'd just passed.

If this was the result of just pressing the foot brake hard, then the brake bias is fucked, as is the ABS, and it should fail its MOT in a few days on those points, or the garage is dodgy.

More likely the driver and those in front malfunctioned.

He didn't take any notice of the queuing traffic and @ 0.03secs brake lights come on in lane 3. He was driving too fast for the conditions and notice hardly anyone in lane 1...figures

Well done to the coach driver and the HGV driver lane 1 for being fully aware and responsive.
