I agree, like many others do.
We were always taught to use the green cross code and NOT cross whilst traffic was approaching. It's insane especially trying to teach younger people some of whom will have a false sense of entitlement and some will no doubt just to it to piss people off and cause accidents.
What the hell is wrong with simply waiting for a safe gap and giving way to traffic, especially traffic that weighs several tons and will kill you very easily.
And good luck cyclists, slowing or stopping for pedestrians wanting to cross.. good luck NOT being hit from behind.
This updated rule has fail written all over it and for good reason.
