Man (36) involved in tragic Avoch collision dies of injuries
George Jack (36) died of injuries sustained after the collision in Avoch on Janaury 1.
George Jack (36) died of injuries sustained after the collision in Avoch on Janaury 1.
A MAN involved in a New Year's Day accident on the Black Isle has died in hospital.
Police confirmed this afternoon that George Jack, who was 36, died from injuries sustained after being struck by a car at Station Road in Avoch in the early hours of January 1.
Mr Jack, who was local to the area, was hit by a Ford Fiesta in the early hours of New Year's Day. It is understood he was on his way home from a Hogmanay celebration in the village.
The accident happened at around 5am.
Mr Jack was first taken to Raigmore before being transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The road was closed for several hours following the accident.
In a statement released through police this afternoon, his family said: "We are understandably devastated by our loss. We would ask that our privacy is respected at this extremely difficult time."
It's understood Mr Jack was a well-known character locally who served as an office bearer with Avoch Amenities Association.
Inquiries are still ongoing in relation to the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
Seen what happened on the police page.. and everyones being unfair. When i was a kid i was tought not to walk out in the road in front of cars. If someone jumped out a plane, would the pilot be to blame?
Still tragic what happened but stop pointing fingers if its nothing to do with you.
Like the other comment I made, pedestrians are allowed to use the roads too, maybe the chap was just crossing from one side to the other when he got mowed down huh?
Let jump on the bandwagon here guys, Clearly some people here have no idea whats gone on and dont know any facts at all, Only the people involved know what happened. The fact that some people here are only posting because they can remain anonymous is quite funny as if their real names were to be posted it would be a different story
he's been reported to the police a number of times.. terrible driver. Now the victims family have to life a life without a dad. He should get a life sentence
Maybe all you people with nothing to do could at least get your facts right. If the boy was speeding would have he. It have been charged right away!! The poor guy that died was drunk and in the road. Why? The car never went on the pavement and the driver was sober. Maybe you should all print the facts or shut the hell up about things you know bugger all about! The driver is devastated as anyone would be....
Why does someone keep on rating this little idiot as a good driver? He clearly isn't showing any remorse for his actions and is sadly and worryingly probably still driving around in mummy and daddy's car. Hopefully justice will be served by his new room mates once he is actually jailed.
Clearly a friend or himself saying that above. How can you justify what has happened? Pretty clear that speed was involved in the incident or if it is himself, hope you are running scared for what you have done. Prick.
Guessing this is the driver or a friend commenting and trying to rate him as a good driver! Thank goodness these comments stay up. Hope the police use this.
Despite local people being aware of this person's dangerous driving for over a year, his vehicle was involved in a collision with a pedestrian on 1 January 2017. The 36-year-old man died nine days later. He was married and had two young children.
Absolute idiot of a driver. On a small back road near Kirkhill he was driving so fast he drifted over to the wrong side of the road and was very close to losing control. This was at 8.15am and I was forced to slam on my brakes so that I was not hit head on. There was a woman out running on the pavement beside the road and had the idiot driver lost control there is no doubt she would have been hit by his car.
Several other people have witnessed similar dangerous driving from him and the authorities have been informed and are involved now so hopefully they stop him before an innocent person is hurt.
Has this idiot been locked up yet?
