Cyclist should have made allowances for the learner or anyone else for that matter. It was obvious what they were going to do. Ride defensively not aggressively! 2 wrongs don't make a right!

I fail to understand. The while line to the bike line is broken. The car is allowed to cross that line. You are behind and are attempting to do an illegal undertake. As far as I can tell YOU are still required to follow the highway code, and undertaking on the left is not allowed.

In my opinion the driver is in the wrong because the cycle lane was already occupied; had there been no cyclist there the car could have easily crossed the dashed line, into said lane. Having said that, things like this are bound to happen in crowded Britain.. it's best to be prepared and well, give a little, you know? Slow down and wait at a safe distance 'in case' the driver hasn't seen you. If you are giving them priority then use clear hand signals. Everyone's happy and we can all get where we're going in one piece..

The Highway Code:

Lane discipline

133

If you need to change lane, first use your mirrors and if necessary take a quick sideways glance to make sure you will not force another road user to change course or speed. When it is safe to do so, signal to indicate your intentions to other road users and when clear, move over.

Cyclist wasn't undertaking, only going straight ahead - nothing illegal about that. Car needs to indicate when changing lanes into the path of another vehicle. Very poor coming from a driving school.

Disagree completely - vehicles need to signal intent, and shoulder check when changing lanes. No different here. Car is in the wrong

I agree.
The learner is inexperienced, expect them to have less awareness on the road.
As an experienced cyclist you should have seen the car turning right and anticipated the possibility of the learner moving to the near side to pass it.
You were also sitting in his mirror blind spot so he might not have even been able to see you.
Anticipation, not reaction, use forward vision.

You're a cyclist. Nobody cares. They should have knocked you off.
