Firstly, I am not saying that woman is OK - the way she behaves is really shocking and quite frankly, she should have stopped if the other driver does not let her in.
However, the problem has really been caused elsewhere (and you can see it all the time on all roads). It is not about the politeness - it is not about who was where first. There are more and more cars and roads can't get wider. All the people should be using all lanes and merge at the end. If everybody does this, then nobody would be jumping the queue. I know it is difficult to swallow when there is only one or two cars using the right lane.
Not using both lanes when possible really causes much more congestions. Long queues blocking roundabouts hundreds of meters away. Merging really works well. Much better than stop / start all the time (there is quite some time between the car in front of you and your car starts moving, if from a stand still). And highway code recommends this as well.
