Thankfully the cyclist was going very slowly, which meant he stopped just in time. Drivers like this are a menace and really shouldn't be allowed to drive.

Question for the cyclist

Was you indicating you were to turn right using hand signals?

I only ask because I presume they have been outlawed as NO cyclist ever uses them these days.

I drive a car and haven't ridden a bicycle in years but I find it odd that some people start going on about cyclists should have insurance, a licence etc. when commenting on a page that is about a driver driving dangerously. In this case, the driver was clearly at faulty so all the nonsense about cyclists should have this and that is irrelevant.

tommy you just hate cyclists, you have admitted it on here by the looks of things several times. furthermore your comment here has nothing to do with the events shown. your hatred is not only illogical, it is blind. grow a pair.

Cyclists do use hand signals. Most of them involve using the fingers.

Sooo many of these threads are filled with comments like yours. You see a legitimate complaint against bad driving and just because there's a cyclist making the complaint, out come the cycle-hating fraternity? Why do you try to change the nature of the complaint to suit your agenda? You will solve your own problems, that are of your own doing, when you START treating other road users as equals..that includes cyclists. So far behind some of our European neighbours..this nasty attitude against cyclists needs to stop!

i agree with sonny. should be insured and should have a way to identify a biker as they can cause damage scraping down the side and ride of in heavy traffic we cant do anything.

It's been shown that license and insurance won't work. Helmet use doesn't always save lives. None of these recommendations are legal requirements.

Sonny I think your comment came across the wrong way because you seem to be saying all cyclists don't use hand signals. Sorry to hear about what happened.
I drive and cycle. I always use hand signals whilst on a bike and do my best to adhere to the Highway Code.. The sheer level of hatred I've endured on British roads towards cyclists is cause for me to give up cycling altogether. And it's not just confined to cyclists.. there's something about this country and (some) people becoming complete ass-holes whenever they have to share their space with others. This includes both bad drivers and cyclists. With regards to this video the driver seems to be at fault for going way too fast and for going across the roundabout whilst another vehicle was already on it.

"I only ask because I presume they have been outlawed as NO cyclist ever uses them these days."
Well I'm a cyclist and I use hand signals, and I also witness cyclists using hand signals on a daily basis. So that's your assumption falsified. So what's your next attack on cyclists?

Morning,

Hate is a strong word.

I just think cyclists should have to adhere to the following three things....

To be licensed
To be insured
For the wearing of a helmet to be compulsory.

A friend of mine drives a truck, was turning left and a cyclist undertook him. The cyclist suffered life changing injuries and left my friend mentally scarred. Had the cyclist undergone proper training and was wearing a helmet both parties would be fine. For the record the cyclist was found to be at fault, but was not prosecuted??

1. The cyclist was on the roundabout BEFORE the car entered.
2. The car was going way too fast.
3. Your hatred against ALL cyclists merely serves to show you up.

Oh right, so the reason why this cyclist was nearly killed is the fault of the EU....Makes sense. Do you blame the EU when you are stuck on the toilet with diarrhoea too?
