Toyota Avensis travelled at 20 through Morpeth holding traffic up, then slowly to top of Whorral bank allowing me to catch it easily on overtaking lane within the 60mph limit. As there was no oncoming traffic in the 300 metre stretch on Pegswood bypass from the roundabout to the railway bridge top, I pulled out to overtake. The Toyota immediately began to drag-race with me until we were both over the speed limit of 60 mph. When it became clear that the driver was intent on continuing with this dangerous game, plus oncoming traffic appeared over the hill I pulled back in behind, at which point we continued to the next roundabout with me restricted behind at 50mph, still in the 60mph zone. How mature.
I made no gestures, nor did I tailgate, yet at the roundabout the Toyota did either a 270 or 360 turn around perhaps to avoid me with the mistaken idea that I would wish to pursue them in order to have a go. I carried on and ignored them. Maybe they had just lost their bearings in the excitement...
