Some people cannot be reasoned with. All you can do is protect yourself in the event they attack - not just some drivers but also other cyclists, pedestrians. Literally anyone.
I've learned by my mistakes, and would advise the following to ANY road user.
Run the camera at all times.
Avoid confrontation: do NOT look for or accept a fight; simply walk away. Do not respond. Do not retaliate. Do not argue. Simply walk away. This gives you the moral high ground for what might follow.
If they attack? Stand back and wan them to keep their distance. That's it - it's then upto them whether they choose to heed your advice or face the consequences of their own arrogance. Anyone who approaches your personal space in an aggressive manner gives you full rights to respond accordingly. They are the aggressor, and you are not going to take any chances. Appropriate a physical response until such a time as the threat they pose has been neutralized. Nothing more. Stand back. Call the police. Seek witnesses.
Don't take it personal. It's what they want you to do. I've been attacked myself and no matter what anyone tells you unless you are trained for it you will find it most unpleasant, even if you come out on top. You will also need to make absolutely sure you try to do the things mentioned if you intend to pursue them through the courts.
Anyone who commits pre-meditated assaults on people going about their lawful business can eat shit - all you have to do is know how to serve it to them on a plate. Stay safe.
