Driving along the j27-Barnstaple link road and noticed the lorry wobbling over the lines so I tried to approach and overtake with caution. I noticed the two lanes were about to merge into one which the driver was in and thought to speed up to 72mph to slip in front the driver. The lorry then proceeded to match my speed and stopped me from overtaking and I nearly collided into the traffic cones. There was enough room to make the manoeuvre safely beforehand. I was forced to slip back and follow the driver who was deliberately slowing to 30mph when the limiters changed to 40 and the driver soon picked up speed and sped to almost 70mph (still at the 40mph zone) before I turned up to the first Tiverton turn off. I’m a civil servant who understands road safety and do not act aggressively on roads. I saw that this driver acted irresponsibily especially when we both went through heavy traffic in the wake of an accident and also when there was a smaller lorry on the trailer which was being transported.
