This woman should not be driving. At around 15.50pm today she stopped on St.Andrew's road after driving through the level crossing at St.David's, Exeter. There were no cars driving in the opposite direction so obviously as a pedestrian I thought she was stopping to let me and my Daughter cross the road. However as soon as I waved thanks to her as me and my Daughter were crossing the road she drove forwards again then stopped last minute. As you can probably imagine it gave me and my daughter a fright that she decided to drive forwards again as we were crossing after previously being stopped and giving us room to cross. She then remained stopped again but yelled to me and my Daughter through an open window that she had a Dog in the back of the Car. We looked and saw a poor West Highland white terrier not secured in the back of her car! Now apparently it's not illegal to have your Dog insecure in the back seats as opposed to safely locked in in the boot where it's a more confined space but that just shows that not only is she dangerous to pedestrians, possibly a danger to drivers behind her who don't know what the hell she is doing but she's a poor Dog owner too. Now how the hell was I supposed to know as a pedestrian that she wasn't stopping to let us cross the road but because she had a Dog not safely secured in her back seat? Making sure she has her Dog safe and making sure she's driving properly are her responsibility. As a pedestrian and especially when I have my young Daughter with me, I always make sure to look both ways before I cross. She had definitely stopped a little way back, left room for us to cross and looked right at me so there's no way that she didn't see us walking and stopping and looking as she slowed down her car and stopped. She can't play the card of, "they walked right out in front of me and forced me to slam my breaks on". I've reported it to the Police but of course they can't do anything unless it's more than one report. At the very least I want someone to have a word with her about her driving and let her know that she can't just do that. It's extremely out of order to give pedestrians a fright like that because we aren't psychic and don't know why else she would be stopping on a main road straight after driving through a level crossing. But on top of that she blamed us and had a go at us as if we were supposed to know she had a Dog in the back! Please share this far and wide. This brainless moron should not be driving!
