There is no excuse especially in this current heat wave (even us humans are being advised to stay in doors)
https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/heat-health/#?tab=heatHealth

If it was me I would call the poice and tell them (politely) they have 15mins to get here otherwise I will have to gain access by whatever means necessary to the vehicle to assist the dog.

No I wouldn't give a shit about being held responsible for criminal damage - I'd love for these scum to try to take me to court

Calm down keyboard warrior.

Considering it's not illegal to lock your dog in a car, you would have to prove the dog was suffering as a result of the heat.

If that dog was fine in the car, due to not being in there very long, you smashing the window would be seen as criminal damage in the eyes of the law. You might think you're helping, but all your doing is risking being charged with a crime to 'fix' a situation that inst a problem.

And yes we've been advised to stay indoors, but if I'm sitting in a car in the sun please don't ring the police and then smash my window to get me out.

you should have called the police/rspca. they would have smashed the car windows to rescue the poor defenceless dog.

don't have pets unless you are prepared to look after them properly
