These guys riding on a moped jumped a red light and nearly hit me on my bike, they then thought it would be funny to drive slowly and taunt me, shouting abusive language, pulling over and throwing things at me. They narrowly missed a lollipop lady and getting hit by a car at another set of traffic lights.

Hi John, sorry to hear about your experience. Sounds like the person responsible is off their head..on drugs or drink..well, one can only speculate. Please say you reported it to the police, even if only to keep it on file in case they come up again. Also, do you have any description of the attacker? You did well not to lower yourself to their level.. you were the bigger man. Not them.
If they try it again, try to stop at a petrol station or supermarket.. anywhere where there is a camera. Stand behind the bike. If they approach, tell them to stay out your space or you may be forced to defend yourself. That way you've at least covered yourself in court..it can ONLY get worse for them after which, because they are the aggressor and you are the one defending your person.
I'd also advise on fitting a camera and a horn and letting both do the talking - give the aggressor no quarter.
