If you have to stop, let them approach you. If they get aggressive then at least you know you've covered your ass in court, should it come to that. Just warn them to stay out your space and you'll use force if you have. Do not swear. Do not act aggressive. But get ready to fight, because beyond this point it's ass-kicking time, with no rules. Failure to do any of the above just gives morons a get out of jail pass - don't give them any ammunition.
