YN52 VUE 2015-07-26 13:57:57

On Friday, 24 July 2015, at about 17.25pm, at the car park of Lidl, Bangor, N. Wales (LL57), the sole occupant of the said vehicle, a silver-grey people carrier, reversed into the left rear door of my Ford Fiesta. The incident occurred as I was inching my way towards the exit of the car park, having done my shop. I heard a bang on the left rear door of my vehicle and saw that the driver of the other vehicle was trying to reverse OUT of the parking bay which she was occupying! I stopped and looked at the damage, and told her that she'd gone about matters the wrong way, and that people should always exit parking bays in forward gear, so as to avoid such dangerous manouevres. Her attitude was self-righteous, as she stated that other drivers also went into parking bays pointing the wrong way. I said that they were in the wrong too, as the Highway Code states that drivers should not reverse into a main road, a rule which is then adapted to a not dissimilar situation. I have since been advised by the local garage that my insurers would write off my own vehicle, as it's over 10 years old, so I'll be taking it there tomorrow morning so that the door can be pushed out so as to create a semblance of its previous contours. It seems as if the perpetrator of this act of vandalism has got away scot-free.
