Now you’ve reported them they’re likely to be really bitter and resentful of all cyclists now and might actually knock one off as they now effectively have nothing to lose - you might have just cost someone else their life

I feel sorry for the driver, if that stupid cyclist wasn’t wearing a camera they would have gotten away with it - if it was like 2004 where we didn’t have these cameras, then they wouldn’t be in this situation.

Stupid cyclists, just stop cycling and get a city car or take the bus - it’s not hard. You’re culnerable and annoying and a real nuisance - I don’t want you guys to be killed or hurt but please - if you don’t like the danger then stop cycling! It’s only a matter of time until someone actually does kill you and then you won’t have your life to upload your evidence Nd try and get them fined - what’s more important? Your life?? Or getting people fines!! Ffs!!

Okay so the person who got the fine and points wasn’t even 100% the person who was driving the car in this video?

Fair enough they failed to provide details but that doesn’t necessarily mean they did this to you :/ the actual perpetrator may actually have got away with it - seems like you just like seeing people have to face points and fines

Bloody hell you do NOT drive that close! What's up with his head? Accept you done wrong man..the bikers don't have to use the lane or whatever. Accept the reason why, it's all over the Internet and in the Highway Code. Stop being a small child in a man's body.

Perfectly fine overtake, you look too far over yourself, perhaps stick to the left side

Video description:

'An excerpt from my head-mounted safety camera from 6th June 2019, where the driver of a black BWM overtakes closely at speed on the approach to a junction, causing me to cry out in alarm and distress.

The driver, hearing my swearing through his open window, brakes to a sudden stop—and then proceeds forwards, again too close for safety, and proceeds to complain and harass me for the next ten minutes. This includes threatening me with assault, and using his car to force me into the curb and stop after I try to leave.

Throughout, the driver did not appear to be satisfied by my responses to his complaints, even after a helpful bystander approaches part way through the verbal altercation to offer informed independent advice.

This incident was reported to the police, and assigned reference number: [redacted]. The police subsequently opted not to prosecute the driver, on the grounds that they do not believe it would be proportionate to do so—though they have written to the owner of the vehicle with a warning letter, apparently to caution them for their behaviour.'

I would contest this decision.

You have at least one potential witness there, who appears to be of sound mind and good character.

The driver can also clearly be seen to be making direct threats of violence against the person, and using their vehicle as a weapon.

At the very least I it is my opinion this driver NEEDS to be sent on an education course, because their obstinate refusal to take responsibility for their actions - regardless of whether you are in the lane or on the road (as per your right), is quite frankly shocking. It's classic denial, bullying and victim blaming and when sat behind several tons of metal it can and does lead to death.

The second this aggressor threatened you would have been sufficient grounds to take his head off, in my opinion. He is clearly making a threat to cause you harm. Who the hell does he think he is? He wouldn't have a leg to stand on in court as long as you use appropriate force - he's threatening someone going about their lawful business.

If he doesn't learn from this, he will kill. And if he thinks that video is going to be taken down? It's a public space and it's already been saved countless times, I would imagine. Welcome to reality, and growing up. It's a lot less painless than you taking a life.

So his attempted justification for driving like a prick was victim blaming? Pathetic. He also needs his eyes looking at: the cyclist wasn't even in the middle of the road, and furthermore cycle lane use is NOT compulsory. Inventing his own rules and ordering other people to follow them, as well as putting their life at risk through his own pig-ignorance can only mean one thing: this driver is a danger to himself and to others, especially vulnerable road users. His attitude is like his driving: dire. I hope the police have his reg if and/or when its needed for later use.
