They think you're too close.. why not ask you to move? Oh wait, was it because you weren't actually that close and their ego couldn't stand being in the wrong? If you're over the lines then it's their fault.. I'd ask the store if security footage is available. Hmm, leaving the scene of what amounts to an accident(?) Maybe look into that too. You know, what if someone battered their door? Some bad people about after all..and they too, might claim they were "too close". Not that I'm advocating such behaviour :)) ;)
