Wouldn't it have saved you so much time and effort to just use the bloody path, right there. There's nobody walking on it. Then, when safe to do so, move into the stationary traffic, and begin filtering. Far safer than facing oncoming vehicles, and getting squished by the odd one who happens to be looking at their phone.
