Workmen think they are a cut above others. Many have a sense of grandiosity thinking they are entitled to more but this shows they need this preferential treatment to compensate for the inferiority they are trying to hide. Especially so with Highway Maintenance and outdoor workers.

Going both ways on that road is a nightmare, who designed a road that goes from two lanes into 1 immediately after the lights, then it splits to 2 at next lights then back to 1 20 meters after the lights!
It is a joke the amount of people racing and pushing through here
