Very bad driver, trying to race other cars, in very heavy rain, tailgating other cars and many other examples of driving badly. Wont be long before he has a serious accident.
Stagecoach 100 Morecambe Service
Comes out of Lancaster bus station and pushing his way across lanes in front of traffic but after being let into the leftmost lane the driver showed no courtesy but then speeds undertaking in bus lane over Greyhound Bridge. Impatient and lacking courtesy.
At approximately 8:30 on 28/8/20 I was driving over Greyhound Bridge, Lancaster doing about 30-32 mph when in my rear view mirror I could see this bus in the bus lane speeding and undertaking other vehicles.
I got to the part of Morecambe Road where both lanes merged before the bus got there and with no bus lane the driver kept going at excessive speed until he was up my backside as he couldn’t pass me.
All the way up to the Bay Gateway he was harassing me to go faster so I decided to put him to the test.
Guessing he would be going to the bus garage in White Lund Industrial Estate I decided to go that way to Westgate and see what he would do as I kept to The Highway Code throughout.
I signalled to turn left at Bay Gateway, got into the right lane so that I could turn right into Northgate at the set of lights after the McDonald's exit lights, and signalled accordingly. This is where the bus driver was going and was almost bumper to bumper while waiting at all traffic lights.
I kept to the speed limit so I wasn’t going slow, but the bus driver continued up my backside even along the bumpy stretch of road where there are car dealers and vehicles parked on the roadside where most drivers drive a bit slower along here but this bus driver wasn’t happy. He continued his bullying tactics not giving me a reasonable amount of space trying to intimidate me with being in charge of a double deck bus up my backside.
He continued down Whitegate as I headed towards the traffic lights on Westgate.
Conclusion:
I was within my rights to take the route I did, and travelled as efficiently and safely as possible given the circumstances ahead (junctions,,speed limits, traffic, road surfaces, etc) and this bus driver had no right to drive so close like he did.
Most vehicles leave much more space normally except for speeders and tailgaters who get too close as a form of trying to control you into doing what they want - i.e. getting you to go faster because they are tailgaters, speeders and bullies.
Don’t let bus drivers think they are bigger and better because they have a big vehicle. Big vehicle drivers have big vehicle licences but that doesn’t mean they have authority over ordinary road users. They might think they have with their licence seen as something of authority over others.
They should respect you as a road user and not try to bully you with the powers of control they think they have because of the size of their vehicle.
I was glad no other vehicle got between us as this enabled me to test this bus driver’s tactics to the full.
Sorry bus driver I was in front of you and kept within The Highway Code all the way - more than you did as you broke it with driving too close to me most of the way and was speeding over Greyhound Bridge.
