I know I don't often post good driving videos - that's mostly because it's rare that I notice driving so good that it merits mentioning. This is absolutely faultless driving, however, and the driver is very aware of not just their surroundings but also mine, and I feel it deserves to be recognised.
I noticed the driver not overtaking at the pedestrian crossing at the start of the video, because they can see that the cycle lane ends and that there are cars parked and I'll need to move out to the middle of the lane. I can't remember the last time someone didn't stop alongside me at these lights, which is why I noticed it here.
I deliberately crawl up to the lights because I'm expecting the driver to overtake me and I expect to slot in behind them, but they don't.
I keep further left than I normally would (in the loading bay at 0:26 for example), because I expect them to overtake me, since there's a reasonable gap to the next vehicle - but they still stay back. I'm doing about 18 mph here, and they don't wan't to speed to get past me to the next vehicle.
They then give plenty of space as I cycle along Bruntsfield Place to Morningside Road (I top out at about 22 mph here on the corner), keeping a good 2 seconds gap, and not even stopping closely at the red lights.
I then lose them on Morningside Road because I get up to around 28 mph (speed limits only apply to motor vehicles, etc, etc), and they continue to follow the speed limit instead of blindly matching my speed as most drivers seem to do.
Top marks. I wish everyone would drive like this!'
Awful driver, cutting people up in traffic and then sitting at the wheel looking like a petulant teenager. Tailgating even when people were slowing down because of traffic - you’re not gonna get anywhere faster because of the queues!
Does anyone know who the driver of this car is? Dangerous driving tail gating my in-laws with my kids in the car, narrowly overtakes and slams on brakes? Reported to police.
