Car should have pulled over to let the passenger out, also it was stopped in a keep clear box!
passengers fault for not checking, always look even when parked up just in case someone is walking past.
To be honest I think even you as a cyclist would be capable of making the mistake of opening the car door like that in such a situation. I don't mean it as a criticism - it's one of those things that will happen no matter how much awareness/education there is.
