The idiot type drivers will simply view that rules as saying pedestrians don't have right of way at other times. It's the same as not over-taking cyclists if you're turning right at junctions.. they wrongly interpret it as meaning you can when they are turning left or going straight ahead at a cross roads. Some drivers need to understand pedestrians have ultimate priority even if they're being pricks.

I find the employer's response pathetic.
"The cabbie, with over 20 years of experience, will keep his job at taxi firm City Cabs despite his conviction and nine points on his licence."
.. Well, I too will NOT be using your services in any capacity. I don't give a damn whether it's a cyclist, driver, pedestrian.. your company can't be trusted and saying you're installing CCTV in all cabs makes NO difference when all it takes is one incident like this to show just how much violence you are prepared to tolerate from your employees. It is a matter of trust, see. And you've shown to me that you cannot be trusted.

Disappointed to see so many clips of drivers abusing pedestrians. Have they passed their tests? Read the Highway code? Pedestrians are Road users too. If they are crossing and already in the road when a car arrives it's up to the Car driver to wait till its safe to proceed. It is NOT up to pedestrians to hurry up and get out of the way of impatient idiots.
