Driver was in the wrong to start with with but then as usual instead of pulling up and having a word the cyclist decides to damage the car and ride off instead.

It's up to the law and courts to defend the victim.
This driver needs to lose the ability to drive until he's passed an extended driving test + convicted of assault + pay damages/compensation
Without this he, and similar road users, will deem this to be acceptable

Although I agree with most of what's been said about the cyclists riding this does not deflect and give reason to physically assault someone.

The driver has priority being ahead. Cyclist should have given way by overtaking. 4. Driver gave way to you. You were at risk of being crushed under the wheels of a car signalling left well before you started to undertake it. 5. Why would you as a Cyclist having only lycra to protect your flesh & bone want to prove you have 'Right of way?' 6. By continually undertaking Darwinism will win in the end.
