You should have anticipated his manoeuvre. The other day a slow-moving cyclist came behind me as I was doing a 3-point turn and then protested that I put their life at risk, whereas I couldn't believe they would not stop to allow me to complete it. There is a Youtube channel devoted to such people.

flashing someone to come across the junction is all well and good, but NOT if you then put me in danger on a shared use path. I had to slam on the brakes and only just stopped going in the side of that car. Don't flash people across, let them decide.
